As a surgeon myself performing microsurgery, I spent a great amount of time and care in selecting the best person to perform such a delicate procedure on me as a patient. Let me assure you that you could not be in better hands. I did not know Mr Chaudhary before the initial consultation although had suffered a number of years with localised back pain. I had consulted another specialist locally although didn't feel that they fully listened or were interesting in me as a patient (rather than just the pathology). My symptoms suddenly worsened and the resulting sciatica was quite disabling as a doctor, as a husband, and father to three young children. My GP was not interested in a referral (in fairness back pain is a common presentation and most cases are treated conservatively, although I knew mine was present for more than 3 months and was worsening) so I had to seek private healthcare as I knew that without early treatment, the prognosis is much more guarded. Mr Chaudhary was remarkable and he treated me with care and compassion (sometimes which is sadly lacking in these pressing times). Clearly an expert in his field, he quickly got to grasps with the issues, both medically and saw the impact on my life; we went through the details of the options. Without prejudice, he helped guide me in making the best decision that would fit my circumstances. On the day of surgery, everything went like clockwork and his anaesthetic colleague (Dr Graham Barker) did a wonderful job in keeping me comfortable. My result was immediate and I was standing within an hour, off painkillers in 2 days and walking 10k within 4 days. It is not an understatement that Mr Chaudhary has changed my life. Of course, no surgery is without risk or complication, and every person is an individual and their health journey may be different. At least you could rest assured that you took the best chance with a highly skilled surgeon and downright decent human being.

I have to say when I first saw Dr Chaudhary I was in immense pain and feeling a little unheard. He was excellent and I believe (or he certainly made it fell like!) he actually cared and was willing to be proactive in my care.

I have received excellent care and treatment from from this Doctor, he was able to give me realistic advice in a very caring manner. Although I was very anxious about having surgery Dr Chaudhary put me at ease and gave me plenty of opportunity to ask questions and talk through the procedure. Dr Chaudhary did a follow up visit in recovery to check on my progress and to explain that everything went ok, this was such a relief and reassuring. I left hospital the same day and felt amazing as I was pain free and able to walk, I am now 2 weeks post surgery and feel really good. I’ve stopped taking all pain relief and getting stronger with the help of physio. I am incredibly grateful to this Dr and amazing team who have given me the chance to get my life back to normal.

Mr Chaudhary was selected by the Neurosurgery Senior Review team to carry out my Left C6 / C7 open foramintomy and Left C7 nerve route decompression because of his immensely impressive skills and a reputation built in recent years of being an outstanding neurosurgeon. Mr Chaudhary is an outstanding communicator. I had a pre-op assessment and a supplementary meeting where he could not have been more clear and open about the operation itself, the likely outcome and the risks. He was extremely friendly and put me at ease throughout both meetings. His willingness to go into whatever detail I wished to discuss was so much appreciated and I was totally clear on every aspect of the procedure and likely outcome. The surgery took place on the 1st, December and my brief discussion with Mr Chaudhary on the day of the surgery was so reassuring as was the discussion with the anaesthetist. I could have been treated better. My treatment during my stay at The Nuffield was fine. Although I suffered sever pain for three weeks following the surgery I am pleased to say that there has been a noticeable improvement in my neck and shoulder areas. I was clearly advised that there would be significant pain postop. As of this week the postoperative pain has vanished completely. Today 27th, January 2021, I received a telephone call from Mr Chaudhary. He was extremely keen to understand how I was feeling and how I felt the operation had helped with my severe neck and shoulder pain. I explained that the scar was virtually impossible to see. He and I agreed that the surgery had been successful and once again his explanation and overview was outstanding. I cannot thank Mr Chaudhary enough for performing this surgery, also it is remarkable how quickly he made the decision to carry out the operation. Previously I had been waiting for almost three years for any action to be taken.
